“Play is the work of the child.” Maria Montessori

A variety of extracurricular programs are provided to cater for the variety of interests in children. These programs include:

  • Ballet
  • Soccer
  • Piano
  • Singing
  • Swimming
  • Tennis

The above programs are available to children over 2.5 years.

Ballet

Children are introduced to The Australian Conservatoire of Ballet at Ladybird Manor Montessori Early Learning. The training is based on the Russian (Vaganova) Method of Classical Ballet, by Director: Christine Walsh AM, presented by artist Claire Carthew. We hope to bring a wonderful learning experience and the “Love of Dance” for the children.

Lessons are held every Wednesday. Classes provide the opportunity for each child to develop musical awareness, good posture and coordination, and to cultivate imagination, confidence and concentration, whilst being introduced to the first basic positions of classical ballet. Lessons continue to nurture each child’s unique dance ‘quality’. Simple classical ballet steps are introduced building on basic positions taught in pre-primary. Imagination and acting ability are further developed by continuing story themed lessons.

Students are encouraged to take part in our Ladybird Manor ballet productions. Students receive a certificate of achievement at the completion of the year’s study.

“There should be a love of dance to become a ballet dancer”

Soccer Bugs

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do”  Pele

Soccer classes are held every Thursday. Classes provide the opportunity for each child to develop coordination, confidence, concentration, and balance and movement whilst having lots of high energy fun!!  Parents are welcome to come and observe children during their lesson.

Our aim is to develop each child’s:

  • Gross motor skills
  • Cognitive learning
  • The building of social relationships
  • Team work

Soccer Bugs uniform consists of:

  • Jersey
  • Shorts
  • Socks
  • Soccer Shoes

Uniform plays an important part in Soccer. It fosters team unity, identity and improves performance.

Singing

Voice classes provide the opportunity for each child to develop musical awareness, a chance to sing, move to music and perform, whilst being introduced to the correct techniques to bring out the best of their vocal quality in speech and song.

Lessons continue to nurture each child’s unique musical talent and the ability to read music, understand the art of musicians and composers, but most importantly to continue their love of music language.

Students are encouraged to take part in our Ladybird Manor musical productions. Students will receive a certificate of achievement at the completion of the year’s study.

We hope to bring a wonderful, fun learning experience and the “beauty of the voice” for the children.

Swimming

As part of our Montessori philosophy, we believe in bringing enriching experiences to your children so that they may reach and develop their full potential. As such, we have decided to introduce an opportunity for children to participate in swimming lessons.

We believe that this will be a wonderful opportunity for your children to engage in an elevating experience with their friends and peers. Swimming lessons are being coordinated with Adelaide Aquatic Centre. For transport, we will be utilising a private bus service. Swimming costs will include both the lessons and the transport to and from swimming. Ladybird Manor children will be provided with two swimming instructors, who will be coaching the children in small groups. Parents are not required to be present at the lessons – the experience will be completely facilitated through Ladybird Manor.

Swimming lessons are on Fridays. On swimming days, children will be required bring a separate bag containing their swimming bathers, dry clothes and a towel. Ladybird Manor educators will change them back into their regular clothes after their lessons are finished.

Students will receive a certificate of achievement at the completion of each stage, from the Adelaide Aquatic Centre.

Tennis

Little Tennis Stars is a fun training program for children aged 3 to 5 years old that operates in our Ladybird Manor grounds.

The program teaches a modified version of tennis to young children to develop technique, fundamental and perceptual motor skills within a safe and familiar environment.

The Little Tennis Stars Program has been designed to meet the requirements of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

The programs we offer are:

ANZ HOTSHOTS BLUE STAGE
